What's Happening?
Colección Tropicalia, a cultural initiative by the sustainable luxury tourism destination Tropicalia, has announced its first open call for artists and designers from the Caribbean and its diaspora. The
initiative aims to include selected works in the Colección Tropicalia, which will be displayed at the Four Seasons Resort and Residences Dominican Republic at Tropicalia. The call is open from October 20 to November 20, 2025, and invites submissions from artists of Caribbean origin, including those from the region's islands, mainland territories, and diaspora communities. The works must be part of a series or limited edition and suitable for tropical conditions. Adriana Cisneros, CEO of Cisneros and founder of Colección Tropicalia, emphasizes the initiative's goal to celebrate Caribbean creativity and contribute to discussions about art, place, and memory.
Why It's Important?
This initiative is significant as it highlights the artistic richness and diversity of the Caribbean, providing a platform for artists to showcase their work in a prestigious setting. By fostering dialogue between the region's artistic heritage and contemporary expressions, Colección Tropicalia aims to redefine Caribbean tourism and cultural engagement. The project supports sustainable development and community engagement, aligning with Tropicalia's vision of responsible luxury and environmental stewardship. Artists stand to gain exposure and opportunities to contribute to the cultural fabric of the Dominican Republic and the Caribbean, while visitors can experience a deeper connection with the region's cultural diversity.
What's Next?
Artists interested in participating must submit a PDF file with an artist statement, portfolio, and contact information by November 20, 2025. The selected works will become part of the living collection at Tropicalia, enhancing the visitor experience and promoting Caribbean cultural dialogue. The initiative is expected to strengthen the cultural network in the region and provide ongoing support for Caribbean artistic and cultural practices.
