Pittsburgh International Airport (PIT) has opened the first of its four planned outdoor terraces, part of a $1.7 billion terminal upgrade that began in November 2025. The new terrace, located on the arrivals level near baggage claims, is designed to offer
passengers and community visitors a space to enjoy fresh air and nature. The terrace features native plantings, accessible pathways, and art installations, aiming to provide a calming environment. The design, inspired by the natural landscapes of Western Pennsylvania, includes 41 plant species and is sponsored by the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center.
