What's Happening?
NASA's Commercial Satellite Data Acquisition (CSDA) Program has expanded its offerings by adding new digital elevation model and imagery products from Satellogic and Vantor to its Satellite Data Explorer (SDX) tool. These products include a Level 1D Orthorectified
multispectral archive from Satellogic and 30-cm black/white and color imagery from Vantor's extensive archive. Additionally, Vantor's digital elevation and terrain models provide detailed views of both above-ground features and the underlying bare earth. These data products are accessible to researchers through the SDX, supporting a wide range of applications from agriculture to disaster response.
Why It's Important?
The addition of these data products enhances NASA's ability to support Earth science research and applications. By providing high-resolution imagery and detailed elevation models, the CSDA Program facilitates more accurate environmental monitoring, resource management, and disaster response efforts. This expansion reflects NASA's commitment to leveraging commercial satellite data to advance scientific understanding and address global challenges. The availability of these products to researchers and policymakers can lead to more informed decision-making and improved outcomes in various sectors.
