What's Happening?
The NATO Helicopter Management Agency (NAHEMA) has contracted NHIndustries (NHI) to initiate a study for the NH90 Block 2 architecture. Announced on April 20, 2026, this contract involves a consortium of Airbus, Leonardo, and GKN Aerospace. The study aims
to develop a mid-life upgrade for the NH90 Tactical Transport Helicopter (TTH) and NATO Frigate Helicopter (NFH) versions. The Block 2 upgrade will focus on structural improvements, modular avionics, and enhanced maintenance and performance capabilities. The study is set to run for two years, with a budget of EUR 15 million (USD 18 million), and will work in parallel with the European Next Generation Rotorcraft Technologies initiatives.
