The European Travel Commission (ETC) has adopted the Reykjavik Declaration, emphasizing community-focused tourism, during its 110th General Meeting in Iceland. The declaration, signed by 35 member national
tourism organizations, aims to prioritize communities and residents in European tourism development. It outlines six guiding principles, including combining economic, cultural, and environmental aspects, leveraging innovation, and promoting tourism as a means of fostering peace. The declaration seeks to enhance local life, regenerate destinations, and protect cultural and natural heritage.
