For the second day in a row, schools in Wheatland, California, were disrupted by bomb threats, which investigators have identified as being made using artificial intelligence-generated voices. Both threats were ultimately deemed hoaxes by the Wheatland Police
Department. On Wednesday, Bear River Middle School canceled classes entirely, while Wheatland Union High School experienced a delayed start. Multiple law enforcement agencies, including the Yuba County Sheriff's Office, Placer County Sheriff's Office, Sacramento County Sheriff's Office, California Highway Patrol, and the FBI, were called to assist the Wheatland Police. Explosive detection dogs were utilized to thoroughly inspect both school campuses. Wheatland Police Chief Michael Garlock confirmed that precautions were taken to ensure the campuses were clear of any dangerous devices.
