Formula E has announced the introduction of its fourth-generation race car, set to debut in the 2026 season. The Gen4 car will feature a significant increase in power, boosting from 300 kW to 450 kW, with
an Attack Mode that temporarily raises power to 600 kW. The new design allows the use of both front and rear motors throughout the race, unlike previous models where the front motor was limited to specific conditions. The battery capacity has been increased to 55 kWh, enabling the cars to harvest up to 700 kW of power through regenerative braking, supplying up to 40% of the energy used during a race. The Gen4 car is constructed using 100% recyclable materials, with at least 20% recycled content, and features larger front and rear wings for improved aerodynamic performance.
