What's Happening?
CNBC has published its Financial Advisor 100 list for 2025, which ranks the top financial advisory firms in the United States. The ranking is determined through a comprehensive methodology involving data analysis and editorial review. AccuPoint Solutions, a data provider, initially screens registered investment advisors (RIAs) using core data points from its proprietary database and the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission's regulatory database. Firms that do not meet CNBC's proprietary criteria are excluded from the list. This year, the initial list comprised 40,563 RIA firms, which was narrowed down to 1,015 firms that met the criteria. CNBC then sends an extensive email survey to these firms to gather more details about their practices. The responses are verified against the SEC regulatory database and other publicly available resources. AccuPoint Solutions applies CNBC's proprietary weighted criteria to refine and rank the firms. CNBC does not receive compensation for placing firms on the list, and inclusion does not constitute an endorsement.
Why It's Important?
The Financial Advisor 100 list is significant as it provides a benchmark for evaluating the top financial advisory firms in the U.S., offering insights into industry standards and practices. This ranking can influence the choices of individuals and businesses seeking financial advisory services, potentially impacting the market dynamics within the financial advisory sector. Firms included in the list may experience increased visibility and credibility, which can lead to growth opportunities and client acquisition. The methodology used ensures that only firms meeting stringent criteria are recognized, promoting transparency and accountability within the industry.
