Mountain West Food Group, LLC, based in Heyburn, Idaho, has announced a recall of approximately 2,855 pounds of raw ground beef products. This action follows routine testing by the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS),
which detected a strain of E. coli O26 in a batch of meat produced on December 16, 2025. The affected product is labeled as 'Forward Farms Grass-Fed Ground Beef' in 16-ounce vacuum-sealed packages, with a use or freeze-by date of January 13, 2026, and an establishment number 'Est. 2083.' The ground beef was distributed to retail locations in California, Colorado, Idaho, Montana, Pennsylvania, and Washington. As of the announcement date, no illnesses have been reported. The FSIS advises consumers to either dispose of the product or return it to the place of purchase and reminds them to cook ground beef to an internal temperature of 160°F to kill harmful bacteria.
