The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) has introduced the Lender Lens, a new feature on the Rural Data Gateway, aimed at increasing transparency in federal investments in rural areas. Announced by USDA Deputy Secretary Stephen Vaden, the Lender Lens provides
public access to the USDA's entire commercial guaranteed loan portfolio. This tool is designed to help stakeholders, including guaranteed borrowers and commercial lenders, monitor and manage their loan portfolios more effectively. The dashboard offers data visualizations that display key metrics such as total loan volume, average loan size, and geographic distribution, with data updated monthly. This initiative is part of the USDA's broader mission to expand public access to government data, as mandated by the Open, Public, Electronic, and Necessary Government Data Act of 2018.
