What's Happening?
China has successfully tested a satellite engine with a record-breaking operating life, marking a significant advancement in space technology. Developed by the China Academy of Aerospace Propulsion Technology, the engine demonstrated a thrust of 750 newtons
and operated continuously for over 14 hours during testing. This performance surpasses the typical seven-hour operation of leading engines like the U.S.-made R-42DM and Europe's Leros-1B. The engine's extended operation was facilitated by a novel heat- and oxidation-resistant coating. During its maiden flight in late June, the engine completed five orbit-raising maneuvers, placing the Communications Technology Experiment Satellite 26A into orbit approximately 35,800 kilometers above Earth.
