BP has awarded three significant offshore contracts totaling approximately $700 million to the Saipem and BOS Shelf joint venture for the Shah Deniz Compression (SDC) project in the Caspian Sea. This initiative
is part of BP's strategy to enhance gas recovery from the Shah Deniz field, one of the world's largest producing fields. The contracts involve the transportation and installation of a new 19,000-tonne compression platform and about 26 km of subsea pipelines. Fabrication will occur at the Baku Deep Water Jacket Factory, with offshore work executed using Azerbaijan's flagship vessels, operated by Saipem. The project aims to leverage Azerbaijan's fabrication capacity and local workforce, with over 3,000 tonnes of subsea structures expected to be fabricated and installed between 2026 and 2028.
