Charlie Shank, a local grocer and restaurant veteran, has revitalized a historic grocery store in Lafayette, Louisiana. In February 2024, Shank acquired Champagne’s Grocery, a local store with a strong reputation that had fallen on hard times. Encouraged
by his mother, Shank purchased the store and transformed it into Charlie’s Saint Street Grocery and Deli. The store, which has been a staple in the community since the 1940s, underwent upgrades to blend contemporary touches with its historical charm. Shank retained the store's popular menu items, such as the iconic chili dogs, while adding his own specialties. The store has become a gathering spot for locals, offering a cool vibe and great food.
