Nscale, a UK-based firm, has announced plans to significantly expand AI infrastructure in the United Kingdom, collaborating with major U.S. partners including Microsoft, Nvidia, and OpenAI. The initiative involves deploying up to 58,640 Nvidia GPUs across multiple sites, contributing to Nscale's global plan to deploy 300,000 GPUs. Central to this investment is the AI Campus in Loughton, which will host the UK's largest AI supercomputer, initially housing 23,040 Nvidia GB300 GPUs by the first quarter of 2027. This facility will support Microsoft Azure services in the UK. Additionally, Nscale, OpenAI, and Nvidia are launching Stargate UK, a platform to support OpenAI's workloads, starting with 8,000 GPUs in 2026 and potentially scaling to 31,000 GPUs. The initiative aims to establish one of Europe's largest data center hubs, with key sites in Blyth and Cobalt Park near Newcastle, designated as an AI Growth Zone by the UK government.
