Ohio Governor Mike DeWine has declared March as Ohio Agriculture Month, recognizing the vital role of agriculture in the state's economy and community. The proclamation, supported by Lt. Governor Jim Tressel and the Ohio Department of Agriculture (ODA),
celebrates the state's 74,000 farms and the individuals who contribute to Ohio's agricultural industry. Agriculture is a $124 billion industry in Ohio, employing one in eight people. The state ranks highly in various agricultural products, including Swiss cheese, eggs, soybeans, and corn. Throughout March, ODA Director Brian Baldridge will tour the state to highlight the diversity and impact of Ohio's agriculture.
