What's Happening?
The Montreal Canadiens Children's Foundation is hosting its 17th annual RadioTéléDON event on March 17. This fundraising initiative, which has raised over $2.4 million since its inception, aims to support children from underprivileged backgrounds in Quebec.
The event is broadcast live from the Bell Centre on RDS, 98.5 FM, and TSN 690. Throughout the day, listeners are encouraged to donate to the foundation, which promotes healthy and active lifestyles among youth. Donations can be made online or via text, with incentives such as souvenir photos and entry into a contest for Air Canada tickets for those who contribute $50 or more.
Why It's Important?
The RadioTéléDON event plays a crucial role in funding programs that support the well-being of children in Quebec's underprivileged communities. By promoting physical activity and healthy living, the foundation addresses critical issues such as childhood obesity and inactivity, which have long-term health implications. The event also fosters community engagement and awareness, encouraging public participation in charitable activities. The funds raised help sustain various programs that provide resources and opportunities for children who might otherwise lack access to such support.
