The 2026 edition of the Automation Expo in Thailand concluded with a significant increase in attendance, marking a 50% year-on-year growth. Held at the Nongnooch International Convention and Exhibition Center in Pattaya, the event attracted 11,723 visitors
and featured 150 exhibitors across 7,500 square meters of floor space. The expo showcased advancements in industrial technology, including IIoT Ecosystem and Future-X zones, which provided practical guidance for manufacturers on upgrading production lines and managing system integration. Key figures from the event emphasized Thailand's readiness to compete globally, with a mature manufacturing sector poised to capture international demand. The expo also featured a fringe program with eight events designed to help manufacturers transition from exploring new technology to successful implementation.
Why It's Important?
The Automation Expo's success underscores Thailand's strategic position in the global manufacturing landscape, particularly within the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC). As global supply chains shift and foreign investment flows into the region, Thai manufacturers face immediate pressure to upgrade their production technologies. The expo provided a platform for local industries to connect with global technology providers, facilitating the adoption of advanced manufacturing solutions. This development is crucial for maintaining competitiveness in key sectors such as electronics, automotive, and food processing. The event's focus on Industry 4.0 technologies, including AI and predictive maintenance, highlights the growing importance of digital transformation in enhancing productivity and addressing workforce challenges.
What's Next?
Following the expo, Thai manufacturers are expected to continue integrating advanced technologies into their operations to meet global standards and demands. The increased interest in AI and IoT solutions suggests a trend towards more automated and efficient production processes. As the EEC continues to attract foreign investment, local companies will likely prioritize technology adoption to remain competitive. The expo's organizers, Messe Frankfurt and GMTX, plan to leverage their international networks to further support Thai industries in scaling up and enhancing their positions within global value chains.
