What's Happening?
Daikin Australia has inaugurated its second advanced manufacturing facility in South Western Sydney, marking a significant expansion in its production capabilities. The new facility, located on a 7,500 square meter site at Daikin's head office, represents
a $28.6 million investment aimed at boosting production capacity and supporting research and development. This expansion is part of the New South Wales (NSW) Government's $2.6 million investment to enhance Daikin's manufacturing and R&D efforts. The facility is expected to increase Daikin's net production value by approximately $50 million in NSW and create numerous manufacturing jobs. The opening ceremony was attended by local MP and NSW Minister for Industry and Trade, Anoulack Chanthivong, Daikin Australia Managing Director Hidekai Furihata, and the Consul-General of Japan in Sydney, Osamu Yamanaka.
Why It's Important?
The expansion of Daikin's manufacturing facility is a significant boost to the local economy, particularly in Western Sydney, which is being positioned as a hub for global investment in advanced manufacturing. This development aligns with the NSW Industry Policy and Innovation Blueprint, which aim to foster a dynamic economy driven by innovation and robust supply chains. The investment not only enhances local manufacturing capabilities but also strengthens the economic ties between Japan and NSW, potentially diversifying export products and markets. The creation of new jobs and the increase in production capacity are expected to have a positive impact on the local economy, supporting the government's efforts to build a more innovative and sustainable economic environment.
