What's Happening?
Resolution Copper has announced a donation of $285,000 to the United Food Bank, based in Mesa, Arizona. This multi-year agreement, extending through December 2028, aims to support the nonprofit's mission in the Copper Corridor, tribal communities, and
the East Valley. The donation comes at a time of record demand for food assistance, affecting seniors and working families across the region. The funds will bolster United Food Bank's programs and operations across a 19,000-square-mile service area, which includes parts of Maricopa, Pinal, and Gila counties, as well as Southern Navajo and Apache Counties. Resolution Copper President and General Manager Vicky Peacey emphasized the company's commitment to food security, particularly in the Copper Corridor, which includes communities like Superior, Globe, and Miami. United Food Bank President and CEO Jason Reed highlighted the importance of this partnership in strengthening food assistance efforts, especially during emergencies when access to food and water is at risk.
Why It's Important?
The donation from Resolution Copper is significant as it addresses the growing food insecurity in Arizona, exacerbated by economic instability and rising costs. The partnership with United Food Bank will enhance the organization's ability to meet the increasing demand for food assistance, which reached record levels in 2025. This support is crucial for tribal communities and other vulnerable populations in the region. Additionally, Resolution Copper's involvement underscores the role of corporate social responsibility in addressing community needs. The company's potential to become one of the largest copper mines in America, contributing significantly to Arizona's economy, further highlights the importance of its community engagement initiatives.
What's Next?
The multi-year agreement between Resolution Copper and United Food Bank will continue to provide critical support for food programs across Arizona. As demand for food assistance remains high, the partnership is expected to play a vital role in addressing ongoing and future challenges related to food insecurity. The collaboration may also inspire other corporations to engage in similar community support initiatives, potentially leading to broader efforts to combat hunger and support economic stability in the region.
