They found that many AI-generated images and descriptions were based on outdated ideas and exhibited clear biases. The study involved submitting prompts for scientifically accurate portrayals and general scenes, with results compared against peer-reviewed archaeological research. The findings revealed that about half of the written responses and a significant portion of the images did not align with current archaeological knowledge, often depicting Neanderthals with traits from outdated reconstructions.
