Eric Lu, a 27-year-old American classical pianist from Massachusetts, has won the top prize at the International Chopin Piano Competition held in Warsaw. The competition, which is considered one of the most prestigious events in the piano world, occurs
every five years and attracts participants globally. This year, the event featured 181 performers, with a significant number from China, Japan, and South Korea. Lu was selected by a 17-member jury and awarded 60,000 euros, approximately $69,000, along with a gold medal. Other notable winners include Kevin Chen from Canada, who secured second place, and Zitong Wang from China, who took third. Another American, William Yang from New York, finished in sixth place.
