A recent study conducted by researchers at the Healthy Aging & Alzheimer's Research Care (HAARC) Center and the Translational Genomics Research Institute (TGen) has revealed that the exceptional memory abilities of SuperAgers are not solely due to low
genetic risk for Alzheimer's disease. The study analyzed the largest cohort of SuperAgers using the latest genetic risk measures for Alzheimer's. Despite expectations, the results showed no significant genetic advantage in SuperAgers compared to average older adults. The research suggests that factors beyond genetic predisposition, such as biological, behavioral, and social influences, play a crucial role in maintaining cognitive health in later life.
