Longines has introduced the Ultra-Chron Classic, a watch that revives the brand's high-frequency heritage. Originally launched in 1967, the Ultra-Chron was known for its precision, operating at five Hertz.
The new model features the automatic high-frequency Caliber L836.6, which runs at 36,000 vibrations per hour and includes an anti-magnetic silicon balance spring. It offers a 52-hour power reserve and achieves full chronometer certification from the Observatoire Chronométrique de Genève, ensuring accuracy through rigorous testing.
Why It's Important?
The revival of the Ultra-Chron Classic underscores Longines' commitment to precision and innovation in watchmaking. By adhering to high-frequency standards and achieving full chronometer certification, Longines sets a benchmark for accuracy in the industry. This move may attract watch enthusiasts and collectors who value heritage and technical excellence. The focus on high-frequency movements could influence other brands to explore similar advancements, potentially leading to a broader trend in precision watchmaking.
