What's Happening?
The Portuguese Army has signed a contract with the NATO Support and Procurement Agency and the U.S.-based Sahar Group for the delivery of three retrofitted UH-60L helicopters. The contract, valued at over 87 million euros, significantly exceeds the initially
authorized budget of 40.8 million euros. The helicopters are scheduled for delivery between 2026 and 2028, with an option for a fourth helicopter. Moog Inc. has been selected to equip these helicopters with its Genesys Avionics Suite and 4-axis autopilot system. The helicopters will be outfitted with various mission-specific equipment, including provisions for door guns, a MEDEVAC system, and firefighting kits.
