Notable recipients include the Red Cross East Central Ohio Chapter, which received $22,000 for emergency and blood donation services, and Grace United Methodist Church, which was granted $90,000 for the replacement of a stained-glass window. Other beneficiaries include Kids America, Muskingum Valley Educational Service Center, and The Ohio State University Foundation, among others. The foundation was endowed by Seward D. and Edith I. Gardner Schooler, who were lifelong residents of East Central and Appalachian Ohio. Their contributions have supported initiatives in education, religion, recreation, health and human services, arts and culture, and historic preservation.
