What's Happening?
The Cold Moon, the last supermoon of 2025, is set to light up the skies on December 4th. This celestial event marks the conclusion of a series of supermoons that began with October's Harvest Moon and November's Beaver Moon. The Cold Moon will reach full
illumination at 7:14 AM on December 5th, offering a spectacular view throughout the night. The name 'Cold Moon' is derived from the Mohawk people of North America, symbolizing the onset of winter's long nights.
Why It's Important?
The Cold Moon provides a unique opportunity for stargazers and photographers to witness a rare celestial event. Supermoons appear larger and brighter than typical full moons, offering a stunning visual experience. This event also coincides with three meteor showers in December, enhancing the month’s astronomical significance. Such occurrences foster public interest in astronomy and encourage outdoor activities, contributing to cultural appreciation of natural phenomena.
