What's Happening?
NeighborWorks Pocatello is organizing the 4th annual Historic Home Tour this Saturday, offering a unique opportunity for residents and visitors to explore eight of Pocatello's most historic homes. The event, scheduled from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., serves as a fundraiser to support the city's six neighborhood associations. Attendees can purchase tickets for $20 at a booth located at North Arthur Avenue and West Fremont Street. The tour allows participants to either walk, drive, or use a free trolley service to visit the homes, each over a century old. The event also includes presentations on historical preservation and local architecture at the Whitman Hotel.
Why It's Important?
The Historic Home Tour not only raises funds for neighborhood associations but also promotes awareness of Pocatello's rich architectural heritage. By highlighting the city's historic homes, the event fosters community pride and encourages the preservation of local history. The funds raised are crucial for the neighborhood associations, which use them to enhance community projects and initiatives. This event also serves as a platform for educating the public about the importance of maintaining and preserving historic properties, contributing to the cultural and historical fabric of Pocatello.
What's Next?
Following the tour, NeighborWorks Pocatello plans to continue its efforts in revitalizing older neighborhoods and increasing affordable housing options. The success of the event could lead to more community-driven initiatives aimed at preserving Pocatello's historical sites. Additionally, the presentations at the Whitman Hotel may inspire attendees to engage more deeply with local history and preservation efforts.
