What's Happening?
RINA, a global consulting engineering group, and HPC Hamburg Port Consulting have been awarded a five-year contract by the Organisation for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) to implement the 'Promoting Green Ports and Connectivity in the Caspian
Sea Region' project. This initiative aims to assist ports in the Caspian and Black Sea regions, including Baku, Aktau, Kuryk, Turkmenbashi, and Batumi, in managing increased transit demand while enhancing sustainability. The project focuses on reducing the environmental impact of transportation through renewable energy adoption, energy efficiency improvements, digital innovation, and connectivity technologies. It also emphasizes gender equality, recognizing the transformative potential of women's empowerment in port management. The project will provide tailored analyses and action plans for each port to advance low-carbon operations and environmental monitoring, supported by technical specifications for pilot investments and institutional strengthening measures.
