What's Happening?
The Columbus Blue Jackets, in collaboration with First Merchants Bank, have initiated a program to recognize small businesses within the community. As part of this initiative, the Eye Center of Columbus has
been named the Small Business of the Month for November. The Eye Center, located in downtown Columbus, is a state-of-the-art facility that brings together over 80 ophthalmologists from more than 10 different practices. The center specializes in various eye surgeries, including cataract, retina, glaucoma, and muscle surgeries. Geoff Haught and Kail Niederkohr, surgery technologists at the Eye Center, highlighted the rewarding nature of their work, which involves assisting in numerous surgeries daily. Their recognition included attending a Columbus Blue Jackets game, where they enjoyed special perks such as watching pregame warmups from the bench.
Why It's Important?
This recognition highlights the vital role small businesses play in the community, particularly in the healthcare sector. The Eye Center of Columbus not only provides essential medical services but also contributes to the local economy by employing a significant number of healthcare professionals. By spotlighting such businesses, the Columbus Blue Jackets and First Merchants Bank are fostering a supportive environment for local enterprises, encouraging community engagement, and promoting economic growth. This initiative underscores the importance of collaboration between sports organizations and local businesses in enhancing community well-being.
What's Next?
The ongoing partnership between the Columbus Blue Jackets and First Merchants Bank will continue to spotlight different small businesses each month throughout the season. This initiative is expected to bring increased visibility and support to various local enterprises, potentially leading to more community-driven projects and collaborations. The recognition of the Eye Center of Columbus may inspire other businesses to strive for excellence in their services, knowing that their efforts could be acknowledged in a similar manner.
