What's Happening?
RailTel Corporation of India has announced a significant project to establish a greenfield data center for Ethiopia's Ministry of Foreign Affairs. This initiative is part of Ethiopia's Digital Ethiopia 2030
strategy, which aims to accelerate digital transformation by expanding digital infrastructure, enhancing connectivity, and promoting financial inclusion. The data center will be located within the Ministry's existing building in Addis Ababa. RailTel, a Public Sector Undertaking under India's Ministry of Railways, is one of the largest telecom infrastructure and ICT solutions providers in India. The project, valued at approximately $2.2 million, is expected to be completed within a year, followed by three years of operation and maintenance support. This contract marks a major milestone in RailTel's international expansion, facilitated by the Indian government's Ministry of External Affairs.
