What's Happening?
Maryland American Water, in collaboration with the American Water Charitable Foundation, has announced a contribution of $196,000 to support 54 organizations in 2025. This initiative is part of their ongoing commitment to community support, focusing on water,
people, and communities. Maryland American Water President Laura Runkle emphasized the company's dedication to providing safe and reliable water services while also engaging in philanthropic efforts. Employees of Maryland American Water have also participated in these efforts, raising $14,175 and volunteering 55 hours through the Foundation's Employee Volunteer and Matching Gift Program. The supported organizations include the Anne Arundel Watershed Stewards Academy, Alzheimer's Association, and the United Way of Central Maryland, among others.
Why It's Important?
This financial support underscores the role of corporate philanthropy in enhancing community welfare. By investing in local organizations, Maryland American Water and the American Water Charitable Foundation are addressing critical needs in water stewardship and community development. Such initiatives not only improve the quality of life for residents but also foster a sense of community and shared responsibility. The funding helps sustain vital programs that might otherwise struggle to secure necessary resources, thereby ensuring continued support for environmental education, health services, and community action agencies.
