What's Happening?
The Tripura Rural Economic Growth and Service Delivery Project (TRESP), supported by the World Bank and implemented by the Tribal Welfare Department of Tripura, is making significant strides in improving
agricultural livelihoods in tribal areas. In Mandwi R.D. Block, women farmers from the Yakhili Producer Group have experienced a notable increase in productivity and confidence. Under the guidance of Mr. Hiralal Debbarma, Cluster Coordinator for Agriculture at TRESP, and with support from TSA Experts, the group successfully harvested 78 kg of Bitter Gourd on October 25, 2025. The produce was sold at ₹70 per kg, providing substantial profits for the farmers. The crop's ability to be harvested multiple times throughout the season promises a steady income for these women. TRESP's Agriculture Vertical, active in 23 tribal-concentrated blocks, focuses on capacity building, scientific cultivation, improved market linkage, and income enhancement for rural households.
