What's Happening?
DeepOcean, an ocean services provider, has partnered with Jana Marine Services Co. LLC to form a joint venture named JADE Subsea Services. This collaboration aims to deliver integrated subsea construction,
inspection, maintenance, repair, and diving support services for the offshore energy sector in the Middle East. The venture will utilize DeepOcean's global subsea engineering expertise and Jana Marine's regional experience, supported by a fleet of 35 offshore vessels. A key component of this partnership is the five-year charter of a new hybrid-powered DP2 diving support vessel, Jana 201, which is under construction in China and expected to be delivered in the third quarter of 2026. The vessel will be equipped with advanced diving systems and serve as the main operating platform for subsea construction and maintenance across the Arabian Gulf.
Why It's Important?
The establishment of JADE Subsea Services is significant for the Middle East's offshore energy sector, as it promises to enhance the region's subsea service capabilities. By combining DeepOcean's engineering and technology with Jana Marine's local expertise, the joint venture is poised to offer competitive and comprehensive subsea solutions. This move also strengthens DeepOcean's presence in the region, following its acquisition of Shelf Subsea and the opening of an office in Abu Dhabi. The partnership is expected to benefit oil majors operating in the Arabian Gulf by providing them with advanced subsea construction and maintenance services, potentially leading to increased operational efficiency and reduced costs.
What's Next?
The delivery of the Jana 201 vessel in 2026 will mark a significant milestone for JADE Subsea Services, enabling the joint venture to commence full operations. As the partnership develops, it may attract further investment and collaboration opportunities within the Middle East's energy sector. Stakeholders, including oil companies and regional governments, are likely to monitor the venture's progress closely, assessing its impact on the region's offshore energy infrastructure and service capabilities.
