What's Happening?
The Anchorage Alaska Temple, part of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, is undergoing a significant relocation process. The new temple structure is being constructed at the site of a former stake center, while the original temple remains
operational until the new one is completed. The First Presidency has announced that the current temple will close on March 22, 2027, with the new temple set to be dedicated on June 13, 2027. This relocation will increase the temple's size to approximately 30,000 square feet, more than four times its original size. A public open house is scheduled from May 13 to May 29, 2027, excluding Sundays, with a media day on May 10 and tours for invited guests on May 11-12.
