The American Medical Association (AMA) has launched a $12 million grant program to integrate artificial intelligence (AI) into medical education. This initiative, known as the Transforming Lifelong Learning Through Precision Education Grant Program, aims
to provide medical students, residents, and practicing physicians with AI-powered feedback on clinical reasoning and patient interactions. The program has selected 11 institutions from 197 applicants, each receiving over $1 million to implement AI-driven educational tools over four years. The Mayo Clinic, among others, is advancing AI applications to read patient scans, while Ohio universities are using AI and virtual reality to simulate patient care. The University of Maryland plans to use AI to analyze surgical procedures on cadavers. The program seeks to create more engaging and adaptable learning environments that align with the realities of practicing medicine.
