What's Happening?
A consortium of experts and stakeholders in the renewable energy sector has completed a training program for over 1,000 youths and women across Nigeria on lithium-ion battery manufacturing. The initiative, sponsored by Innovate UK under the Zero Emission
Generator project, aims to build local expertise in clean energy technology, create employment opportunities, and encourage battery innovation and circular economy practices. Participants received hands-on experience in assembling lithium-ion batteries, which are commonly used in solar systems and electronic devices, alongside lessons on safety, energy storage systems, and basic fault detection and repair. The training also provided participants with a Battery Pack Design Starter Kit and an internationally recognized certificate of participation.

This training program is significant as it addresses Nigeria's growing energy generation challenges by fostering local expertise in renewable energy technologies. By empowering youths and women with practical skills, the initiative supports economic growth and sustainable development in Nigeria.
