What's Happening?
The Italian Agency for Development Cooperation (AICS) is set to participate in Macfrut 2026, an international trade fair for the fruit and vegetable supply chain, scheduled from April 21 to 23 at the Rimini Expo Centre. AICS will occupy a 300-square-meter
stand, featuring representatives from its 10 overseas offices and institutional delegations from partner countries. The event will include three thematic panels focusing on agroecology, rural development, and financial instruments for sustainable development. AICS aims to enhance dialogue between the agency, agrifood supply chains, and Italy's national system, leveraging experiences from programs in the Middle East, Africa, Latin America, and Asia. The agency's participation underscores its commitment to supporting agricultural supply chains, local area development, and economic opportunities for rural communities.
Why It's Important?
The participation of AICS in Macfrut 2026 highlights the growing importance of sustainable agriculture and international cooperation in the agrifood sector. By engaging with global buyers and experts, AICS aims to foster the growth of agricultural supply chains and create economic opportunities for rural communities. This initiative aligns with broader efforts to promote sustainable development and address global challenges such as food security and climate change. The event serves as a platform for knowledge exchange and collaboration, which are crucial for the success of cooperation programs in the agrifood sector. The focus on agroecology and financial instruments for sustainable development reflects a strategic approach to transforming agrifood systems and supporting rural development.
What's Next?
Macfrut 2026 will feature special focus sessions on Latin America and Albania, with the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development of Albania co-organizing the stand. The trade fair will host B2B meetings, in-depth discussions, and product tastings from supply chains supported by AICS, including coffee, cocoa, vanilla, and more. These activities are expected to strengthen partnerships and facilitate the exchange of innovative practices in sustainable agriculture. The outcomes of these interactions could influence future cooperation strategies and initiatives aimed at enhancing the resilience and sustainability of agrifood systems globally.
