Project under the Global Clean Hydrogen Programme, positions Nigeria among developing nations harnessing green hydrogen for industrial competitiveness and climate action. Director-General of the Energy Commission of Nigeria, Dr. Mustapha Abdullahi, emphasized the project's role in decarbonizing energy-intensive industries and creating economic opportunities. The initiative aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's Renewed Hope Agenda, promoting energy diversification and reducing fossil fuel dependence.

The project will focus on developing a national hydrogen policy, supporting industrial clusters, and promoting knowledge sharing. It aims to benefit 1,250 Nigerians, particularly women and youths, while fostering innovation in clean energy technologies. As the initiative progresses, it could open new investment opportunities in Nigeria's energy sector and advance sustainable development and environmental stewardship.
