Astrobase Space Technologies has unveiled India's first privately built 800 kN Full-Flow Staged Combustion (FFSC) LOX-Methane rocket engine, named EVEREST. This development marks a significant milestone in India's private space sector, positioning the
country as the fourth nation to possess FFSC engine technology, following Russia, the U.S., and China. The engine is designed for reusable medium-lift launch vehicles, offering precision control and improved launch economics. Astrobase is also developing the complete industrial chain for launch operations, from engine manufacturing to vehicle integration. The company plans to conduct a full-engine hot-fire test as the next major milestone.

The unveiling of the EVEREST engine represents a crucial step in enhancing India's indigenous launch capabilities and advancing its position in the global space economy. What's Next?
Astrobase plans to manufacture and test around 20 engines before its first orbital flight, aiming to establish a launch-on-demand capability. This would enable the company to prepare and launch a dedicated mission within 15 days of receiving an urgent national requirement. The successful development and testing of the EVEREST engine could lead to further advancements in India's space exploration capabilities, potentially opening new opportunities for international partnerships and commercial space ventures.
