What's Happening?
The SLAM T1D organization is hosting its 15th annual Summer Classic wiffle ball tournament at the Little Fenway complex in Essex, Vermont. This event brings together players from 32 teams across the Northeast and beyond, aiming to raise funds for programs
that benefit individuals living with type one diabetes. Founded by Jeff Kolok after his daughter was diagnosed with T1D in 2005, the tournament has successfully raised over $2 million since its inception. In 2026 alone, the event has already generated over half a million dollars. The tournament continues to grow each year, incorporating new features such as online scoring with tablets to enhance the experience.

The Summer Classic is significant as it not only raises substantial funds for diabetes programs but also increases awareness about type one diabetes. The funds support outreach and educational initiatives that help individuals manage the disease. Participants like Liam O’Farrell, who has lived with T1D for 45 years, emphasize the event's role in fueling community support and education.
