What's Happening?
The UK Data Service has initiated a webinar series throughout 2026 and 2027 focusing on data integration, also known as data linkage. This series aims to explore the potential of combining various data types,
such as social media, smart data, administrative records, and established surveys, for innovative and impactful social science research. The initiative is driven by recent technological advancements and the emergence of new data types. The webinars will feature guest speakers discussing specific linked data types and showcasing relevant research cases. The series began on February 10, 2026, with an overview of data integration, followed by sessions on digital trace data on March 26, 2026, and smart data on June 23, 2026. A future webinar on October 7, 2026, will cover satellite imagery data. A concluding event in Summer 2027 will consolidate discussions and explore future directions for integrated data use.
