What's Happening?
JERA Nex bp has fully commissioned a new hydrogen bunkering facility at the Port of Ostend, marking a significant step in the decarbonization of maritime operations. The Ostend Hydrogen Refueling Station,
developed under the EU-funded ISHY program, serves as a proof of concept for using green hydrogen in maritime applications. Initially, it will refuel the hydrogen-powered Crew Transfer Vessel, Hydrocat 48, with the capacity to serve multiple vessels daily. The project aims to demonstrate the viability of green hydrogen as a fuel for reducing emissions in the shipping industry.
