More than 30 schools in Will County, Illinois, are set to receive security enhancements funded by $129,777 in grants from the state's cannabis sales tax revenue. The funds will be distributed across 18 school districts, including Beecher School District
200U, Frankfort School District 157-C, and Lockport School District 91, among others. Schools had the option to choose between installing main entrance security reinforcements or upgrading visitor and attendance management systems. The Regional Office of Education, led by Superintendent Lisa Caparelli-Ruff, is collaborating with Clear-Armor to install a multi-layer security laminate designed to strengthen glass at school entrances, providing additional time for emergency response during incidents. The initiative aims to improve safety for students and staff, with 19 schools opting for entrance improvements and 14 choosing to modernize their check-in systems.
