The IndiaAI Mission has approved 13 new projects under its Safe & Trusted AI pillar, focusing on responsible AI development. These projects aim to address issues such as bias mitigation, privacy, explainability, and deepfake detection. The government
has also established the IndiaAI Safety Institute to oversee these initiatives and issued governance guidelines to tackle algorithmic bias and misinformation. The mission, launched in 2024 with a significant budget, supports 20 sovereign AI models and has empaneled 15 compute service providers. It also promotes talent development through fellowships and hackathons, aiming to build a robust AI ecosystem in India.
