According to cybersecurity firm Genians, the group used ChatGPT to generate these ID card images to enhance the credibility of their phishing emails. The attackers impersonated a South Korean defense-related institution, claiming to handle ID issuance for military-affiliated officials. This campaign, detected by the Genians Security Center on July 17, follows a series of similar phishing attacks attributed to Kimsuky in June. The emails, which closely mimicked the official domain of a South Korean military institution, included fake ID card images attached as PNG files. These images were identified as deepfakes with a 98% probability.
