What's Happening?
Jeri Tulley, a former Lockheed Martin employee, transitioned to ranching after the sudden death of her husband. With no prior experience, she joined her father in managing their family ranch. Tulley credits Annie's Project, a nonprofit organization aimed
at empowering women in agriculture, for providing her with the necessary skills and support network. Through a six-week program, she learned about various agricultural practices and connected with other women in the industry. Tulley has since become a feature writer for Wagyu World magazine and serves on the advisory committee for Annie's Project, helping to promote the program and support other women in agriculture.
Why It's Important?
Tulley's story highlights the critical role of support networks and educational programs in empowering women to succeed in traditionally male-dominated industries like agriculture. Annie's Project not only provided Tulley with practical knowledge but also connected her with a community of women facing similar challenges. This support system is vital for women who may feel isolated in rural settings. By sharing her experiences and contributing to the program, Tulley is helping to pave the way for more women to enter and thrive in the agricultural sector, promoting gender equality and diversity in the industry.
