What's Happening?
Bezalel 'Salik' Katz, a 101-year-old Holocaust survivor and former Red Army veteran, has realized his lifelong dream of holding a solo art exhibition. The exhibition, titled 'Flying Through Time,' is being
held at Jerusalem's Harmony Center and features a collection of Katz's portraits and landscapes. Katz, who was once mistakenly declared dead during World War II, has been painting for decades, with his works reflecting his journey from wartime Europe to modern Israel. The exhibition was organized by Ezer Mizion's Fulfill a Wish program in collaboration with the Social Services Ministry.
Why It's Important?
This exhibition is a testament to the resilience and enduring spirit of Holocaust survivors. It highlights the importance of self-expression and the fulfillment of personal dreams, even in the later stages of life. Katz's story serves as an inspiration, demonstrating the power of art to convey personal history and emotion. The exhibition also underscores the role of community organizations in supporting and honoring the lives of Holocaust survivors, ensuring their stories and contributions are recognized and celebrated.
