Bowling Green State University (BGSU) has announced that its Falcon Marching Band has grown to a record 600 members, making it the largest collegiate marching band in the United States. This significant expansion includes an addition of over 120 students
compared to the previous year, marking a more than sixfold increase since 2022 when the band had only 90 members. Jon Waters, director of marching and athletic bands and assistant teaching professor, highlighted that this growth is a testament to the student experience at BGSU and the pride students have in the band's rich tradition. Notably, over 80% of the band's members are non-music majors. The Falcon Marching Band has recently gained international recognition, having performed in the St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Dublin, Ireland, and is scheduled to participate in the 2027 Rose Parade in Pasadena, California. Their upcoming performances include the first football game on September 5 against Tarleton State, the Rally BG on Main event, BGSU Homecoming, and the Bowling Green Community Holiday Parade.
