What's Happening?
The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) have appointed Col. Yoav Schneider as the new commander of the 401st Armored Brigade, succeeding Col. Meir Biderman. This changeover comes after Biderman was seriously wounded by a Hezbollah drone attack on May 20. The transition
was planned prior to the attack, and Biderman is now set to lead the division's planning department in the IDF's Operations Directorate. The changeover ceremony took place at the IDF Northern Command headquarters, attended by several senior officers, including Northern Command Chief Maj.-Gen. Rafi Milo. Biderman had been in his role since replacing Col. Ehsan Daxa, who was killed in combat with Hamas in 2024.
