What's Happening?
A self-defence training program was held at a Taekwondo academy in Poonch district, Jammu and Kashmir, aimed at empowering young women with skills for personal safety. The program focuses on teaching practical self-defence techniques, building confidence,
discipline, and physical fitness. Taekwondo Coach Rajinder Singh emphasized the importance of preparing young girls to protect themselves amid rising incidents of crimes against women. Additionally, the Indian Army organized a free medical and veterinary camp in the Rajouri district under Operation Sadbhavna, providing essential healthcare services to remote border villages.
Why It's Important?
The self-defence training program is crucial in empowering young women in Jammu and Kashmir, a region where safety concerns for women are prevalent. By equipping girls with self-defence skills, the program aims to enhance their confidence and ability to handle challenging situations. The initiative also reflects broader efforts to address gender-based violence and promote women's safety. The medical and veterinary camps organized by the Army further demonstrate a commitment to improving healthcare access in remote areas, supporting both human and animal health, which is vital for the livelihoods of border communities.
